Investigator Rodriguez from "Bordertown: Laredo" stars in the A&E reality docu-series.
A veteran of the Laredo Police Department, Investigator Rodriguez ("Bordertown: Laredo") has worked at the department since 1989. He has experience in both Homicide and Domestic Violence, and has been in the Narcotics division since 2007. Rodriguez's most memorable bust was when his unit seized $4 million in drug money. Here is an excerpt from an interview with him:
What's your favorite thing about being
I truly enjoy seeing how people doing their dope deals try their best to be sneaky and try to outwit us, the cops. I find the challenge of being able to outwit the criminals the most appealing.
Does being a Narcotics Officer on the border make you more apprehensive about the job?
We know the drugs are coming from the cartels in Mexico. There are occupational risks when you become a police officer. Anyone who says that they do this job and aren't nervous are lying to you. Police work is a dangerous job.
Is there any case from the past that was the most memorable?
We take down a lot of large loads, but the one I'm the proudest of is the takedown of over $4 million in cash. You know that one really hurt the drug dealers, probably more so than the drug seizures, because they were expecting all that cash to come back.
