Iris Hernandez from "Child Genius" is one of the contestants featured in Season 2 of the Lifetime reality competition series. She is eleven years old and lives in San Antonio, Texas. Her mother is Candice Goetsch, former homeschooling mom and Art Teacher. Her interests include writing, playing guitar and singing.

Iris Hernandez is refreshingly honest with no tolerance for fools. Confronting the real world has been enlightening for her — she holds nothing back when describing the intelligence level of some of her peers. Language Arts are her main focus — among her prized possessions: a thesaurus and a Concordance to Shakespeare. Exceptionally smart, a Davidson Young Scholar, she is taking online courses at the university level and weekend enrichment in math and chemistry.

Iris is a go-getter who does well under pressure and has experience in competition settings. She has already won a writing competition for her first novel and is eager to win her next competition.
