Ivory Aquino stars in ABC's limited series "When We Rise" as transgender activist Cecilia Chung. The role marks her television debut.

Ivory Aquino is an up-and-coming actress who is a company member of The Drilling Company, where she played Juliet in Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," and The Bats at The Flea Theater and was a founding company member of Leviathan Theatre Lab. She has performed onstage at Shakespeare in the Parking Lot in "Othello" as Desdemona, "Julius Caesar" as Marc Antony, "Measure for Measure" as Isabella, and "Henry V" as Katherine. She also has appeared in Leviathan Lab's Shakespeare Quartet Project, "As You Like It," as Rosalind. Other off-Broadway credits include Ma-Yi Theatre's "365 Days/365 Plays" at The Public Theater.

Aquino can be seen in the independent film "The Fever and the Fret." Short film credits include "Couch," "Konstruksiyon" and "Virtue: The Way of the Modern Samurai."
