Jake Gardner from "Pit Bulls & Parolees" stars in the Animal Planet reality docu-series.

Jake's connection to Villalobos runs deeper than any of the other parolees working on the ranch. The oldest male in a family of 10 kids, Jake Gardner ("Pit Bulls & Parolees"), born in Los Angeles, met Tia Torres and her girls long before he was a parolee working on the ranch. Jake's mother, a dog trainer, met Tia in the early days of Villalobos and fostered several of Tia's earliest rescue cases.

Eventually, Jake started spending more and more time around the ranch, and Tia wound up giving him a job. A natural with the all the dogs at the ranch, Jake formed a strong bond with one in particular, Snorkie. The big white pit bull became Jake's constant companion on and off the ranch. Ultimately, after Tia's husband A.J. got arrested, Jake became Tia's trusted right-hand man and was a critical part of the day-to-day running of Villalobos.

Throughout his life, Jake has had several run-ins with the law, resulting in short stints in and out of prison. But on a fateful night in 2009, while he was riding a borrowed motorcycle, police attempted to pull over Jake for speeding. Knowing that he was carrying an unlicensed gun, cops followed Jake on a high-speed chase that resulted in a crash and Jake's arrest. Charged with felony evading of an officer and possession of an illegal firearm, Jake went to prison for 10 months. During that time, Jake's long-time companion Snorkie passed away, something that he learned only after returning to the ranch. Now back at Villalobos, Jake has resumed his role as one of Tia's go-to-guys, training dogs, helping out with adoptions and doing whatever else needs to get done.
