James Cosmo stars in "Games of Thrones" on HBO in the recurring role of Lord Commander Mormont.

James Cosmo has had a long, fruitful acting career, with many appearances on European television. He is best-known in America for playing older, veteran warriors in historical dramas and epics, such as Campbell in Mel Gibson's "Braveheart," Glaucus in "Troy" (written by David Benioff), Hrothgar in "The Last Legion" and Hengist in the British TV series "Merlin."

Cosmo's other roles include Father Christmas in the hit film version of C.S. Lewis's "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" and guest roles on the American TV series "FlashForward" and "Castle."
