James Mapes stars in "The Wicker Tree," a horror film written and directed by Robin Hardy and starring Brittania Nicol, Henry Garrett and Graham McTavish, as Reverend Moriarty. Mapes will also play the role of the lead villain, Mr. Odin, in Robin Hardy's next film, "The Wrath of the Gods."

After earning his Master of Arts in Theater at California State University, James Mapes spent two years performing numerous roles in Repertory Theater in New Orleans and New Jersey before landing in New York City, where he studied with Stella Adler and Lee Strasberg. He has acted off-Broadway in "Brothers" and "Look Back in Anger," toured nationally in "The Glass Menagerie" and produced two summer stock seasons in Maine and Pennsylvania with his own repertory company. He also produced, directed and designed six musical comedies on the S.S. Rotterdam's world cruise.

Tremendously versatile, Mapes has performed his award-winning one-man hypnosis show, "Journey into the Imagination" over 1500 times at universities, theaters and performing arts centers throughout the world as well as on Broadway and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in Manhattan. Mapes is the creator and host of the reality show "Through the Portal," the best-selling author of "Quantum Leap Thinking: An Owner's Guide to the Mind," and an internationally recognized business speaker on the imagination, creativity, innovation and leadership.

His television credits include BBC's "The Connection," "Edge of Night," "Search for Tomorrow," CBS's "The Guiding Light, and ABC's "One Life to Live" and "All My Children." His film credits include "Taxi Driver," "Shamus," "Sisters," "The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3," "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country," "Star Trek: First Contract," "Do You Wanna Know a Secret" and "Conversations with God."
