James Norton stars in A&E Networks' event series "War and Peace" as Prince Andrei Bolkonsky.

British actor James Norton graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London in 2010 and soon landed roles onstage in revivals of "Journey's End" and "The Lion in Winter" with Joanna Lumley and Robert Lindsay. He had previously appeared in productions of "Posh" at Royal Court Theatre, "That Face" at Crucible Theatre, and "Cymbeline" at Cambridge Arts Theatre.

On UK television, Norton starred as a psychopathic kidnapper and rapist in BBC's psychological thriller "Happy Valley," and as a tipsy young vicar with a penchant for solving cases in ITV's "Grantchester," which also aired on PBS in the U.S. He also starred in a pair of BBC miniseries: the drama "Life in Squares" and the murder mystery "Death Comes to Pemberley." Guest appearances on television series include "By Any Means," "Doctor Who," "Blandings" and "Inspector George Gently."

Norton made his feature film debut in 2009 in a bit role in the Oscar-nominated "An Education," starring Carey Mulligan, Peter Sarsgaard and Alfred Molina. Other big screen credits include "Cheerful Weather for the Wedding" with Felicity Jones, Ron Howard's "Rush," starring Chris Hemsworth and Olivia Wilde, "Belle," alongside Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Matthew Goode and Emily Watson, Mike Leigh's "Mr. Turner," starring Timothy Spall, "Northmen - A Viking Saga," alongside Ryan Kwanten, and "Bonobo."
