Jason Gann stars in "Wilfred" on FX as the title character, reprising his role from the original Australian series of the same name.
Jason Gann is an exceptional actor, writer and comedic performer. In 2002 he co-created, co-wrote and starred in the Tropfest winning short film "Wilfred," which also earned him the award for Best Male Actor, an award he was to win again in 2003 for "Buried." Wilfred went on to screen and win awards at festivals around the world including Sundance and Palm Springs.
Gann is also well known to Australian audiences as Mark Wary, the apologizing sportsman on Network Ten's "The Wedge." This character's switch-on appeal led Jason to develop a spin-off series about the private world of this affable sports star, and series one was broadcast nationally on Network Ten in 2008. The show was nominated for a Logie for Most Outstanding Comedy.
Gann graduated from the University of Southern Queensland with a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Acting Major) in 1998 and headed straight for the stage appearing in productions such as "Vertigo and the Virginia" (Queensland Theatre Company), "It Runs in the Family," "A Passionate Woman," "Picnic at Hanging Rock," "Torch Song Trilogy," "Hamlet" (Twelfth Night Theatre), "He Died with a Felafel in his Hand" at La Boite Theatre and several seasons of "Keep Everything You Love" (for which he won Best Male Actor, Queensland Del Arte Awards).
In the feature films, Jason has filmed roles in "Thunderstruck," "The Illustrated Family Doctor" and "Gettin' Square" (opposite David Wenham). His television credits also include the role of "Ditch" Kenny in two episodes of "Blue Heelers" and a cameo role in "Kath and Kim" for the Australian Broadcasting Company.
A prolific writer and creator of programs, Jason has his own production company with projects in development including "Jason and the Residents," which was picked up for development by Foxtel. The feature film he wrote and starred in, "Rats and Cats," was released into Australian cinemas in 2008 and screened at the South By Southwest Film festival in the USA in 2009.
