JB Smoove is a gifted writer, comedian and actor, who continues to entertain audiences all over the world with his unique brand of comedic funk. He is perhaps best known for his recurring role on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" as the outrageous Leon Black, Larry's extended house guest.
JB first moved to Los Angeles in 1999 and landed a recurring role on MTV's "The Lyricist Lounge Show," as well as featured guest spots on "The Chris Rock Show" and "Premium Blend." In June 2000, he received his first major feature film role, narrating and starring in the now cult classic "Pootie Tang" with actor/comedian Chris Rock. In March 2001 he paired up with Adam Sandler to co-star in the hit comedy "Mr. Deeds."
After a short lived season as a cast member on FOX's "Cedric the Entertainer Presents," he moved back to New York City, where he landed a writing position on NBC's "Saturday Night Live." In the standup world, Smoove has been featured on Comedy Central's "Tough Crowd," "Jamie Foxx Presents: Laffapalooza," and was a regular on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."
Other notable credits include the feature comedy "Date Night," starring Steve Carrel and Tina Fey, as well as recurring roles on the comedy series "Til' Death" and "Everybody Hates Chris."
