Jerry Douglas joined the cast of CBS's "The Young and the Restless" as John Abbott in March 1982.
Born and raised in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Jerry Douglas won a football scholarship to Brandeis University, where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree in economics. Jerry Douglas launched his acting career upon graduation from college, studying with famed acting teacher Uta Hagen in New York and with Jeff Corey in Los Angeles.
Over the span of his career, Jerry Douglas has starred in numerous television series, including "The Rockford Files," "Police Story," "The Streets of San Francisco," "House Calls," "Hill Street Blues," "Hunter," "Night Watch" and "Melrose Place." Jerry Douglas has appeared in many television commercials and has been the national spokesperson for Cadillac and Whirlpool. Jerry Douglas's feature film credits include "Avalanche," "Looker," "Mommie Dearest" and Oliver Stone's "JFK."
In addition to acting, Jerry Douglas is also a screenwriter and develops projects through his production company, Jovra Films. Jerry Douglas, his wife, Kym, and their son, Hunter, live in Encino, California. Jerry Douglas has two grown children, Jod and Avra, from a previous marriage.
