Jerry Seinfeld has enjoyed critical acclaim and vast success as a stand-up comedian, television actor, best-selling author and advertising pitchman. And his signature remains the landmark, multi-award-winning television series that bears his name, for which he served as creator, producer and star.

The series "Seinfeld" and his innovative work on it has been recognized with dozens of premier honors. Among them, the show received a Peabody Award and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. Seinfeld himself garnered three Emmy Award nominations, a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Television Critics Association Award, an American Comedy Award and an American Television Award.

While Seinfeld is inextricably linked to his namesake series, he starred as the subject of "Comedian," a behind-the-scenes documentary acquired by Miramax. The film follows him both on and off-stage traveling on his national stand-up tour, which reflected on his post-Seinfeld life—including fatherhood—in sold-out appearances across the country. Seinfeld also guest-starred on the Emmy-nominated HBO series "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and Comedy Central's "Primetime Glick" and was seen in "NBC's 75th Anniversary Special". He also performed in a one-night-only concert in October 2001 at Carnegie Hall to benefit families of New York emergency workers killed in the terror attacks on the Twin Towers. In 2007 he provided the character voice for Barry B. Benson in "Bee Movie."

Born in Brooklyn, Seinfeld became fascinated by comedians as a child while watching them on television and realizing their entire job was to make people laugh. That mission became Seinfeld's goal as well, even through his years as an honors student at Queens College, and brief stints as a telephone light-bulb salesman and a jewelry street vendor.

After those jobs, he spent the next few years honing his craft and, in 1987, starred in his own HBO special, "Jerry Seinfeld's Stand-up Confidential," before "Seinfeld" began its run in 1990. Seinfeld has also hosted NBC's "Spy TV: How To Become Famous," Showtime's "Aspen Comedy Festival," "Saturday Night Live" and "Abbott and Costello Meet Jerry Seinfeld," an NBC special showcasing the comedy team that inspired Seinfeld as a youth. He has made more than 50 combined appearances on "The Tonight Show" and "Late Show with David Letterman" and was featured in a series of critically-praised comical commercials for American Express.

Based on his comic observations, his book "SeinLanguage" was published by Bantam Books in 1993, ranking as that year's third best-selling non-fiction hardcover and remaining on The New York Times Best-Seller List for 33 weeks. He also continues his successful career as a stand-up comic. While he performed whenever "Seinfeld" was on hiatus, he returned to the road after the series ended. His final show of that tour aired as the 1998 HBO special "I'm Telling You For The Last Time."

Seinfeld married Jessica Sklar in 1999. The couple—who live in New York—have a daughter, born in 2000 and son, born in 2003.
