Jessica Szohr stars as Vanessa, Dan's (Penn Badgley) quirky best friend, in The CW's hit drama "Gossip Girl," from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage ("The O.C."), based on the tremendously popular book series about privileged teenagers who attend an elite private school in New York City.

When Jessica Szohr's mother was told that her five-year-old daughter should be a model, it wasn't long before the little girl had an agent and was doing print work. Originally from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, a small town outside of Milwaukee, eventually Jessica Szohr was doing commercials and more print modeling in nearby Chicago. Jessica Szohr modeled for Kohl's Department Store, Crate and Barrel, Mountain Dew, Sears, Quaker Oats, Jockey, Jansport and Seventeen Magazine.

In high school, Jessica Szohr continued to pursue her interest in acting by doing some independent films, including 2003's "Uncle Nino," where she played an MC. Jessica Szohr graduated from high school a semester early so she could come to Los Angeles to pursue her acting goals and dreams. Jessica Szohr's mother and youngest sister came with her. Then, after a few weeks, they went back home and Jessica Szohr was on her own.

Jessica Szohr began to get guest starring roles in television shows including "My Wife and Kids," "What I Like About You," "That's So Raven" and "Joan of Arcadia." More recently, Jessica Szohr had recurring roles on "CSI: Miami" and "What About Brian," on which she played Laura. 

Jessica Szohr appears in the horror films "Somebody Help Me" and the independent "House at the End of the Drive." Jessica Szohr is also featured in music videos for "Over You" by Daughtry and "Best Days" by Matt White.

The oldest of six children, Jessica Szohr enjoys reading poetry and writing down memorable quotes. Jessica Szohr currently resides in New York City.
