Joe Dempsie stars in "Game of Thrones" on HBO in the recurring role of Gendry. A talented young apprentice smith at the forge in King's Landing, Gendry is also believed by Ned Stark to be the illegitimate son of King Robert Baratheon.

Joe Dempsie is most well known for playing the role of Chris Miles, a drug-addicted party animal, on the provocative British teen series "Skins." He received a great deal of acclaim for his performance, as well as a degree of notoriety after appearing completely naked in the first season episode centered around his character, entitled "Chris."

His other British television credits include "Doctors," "Born and Bred," "Sweet Medicine," "Merlin," "Dr. Who," and "This is England '86."

On the big screen, Dempsie appeared in "The Damned United," starring Michael Sheen, "One for the Road," "Heartlands" and "Edge."

Dempsie was educated at The West Bridgeford School in Nottingham. His is an avid soccer fan, particularly of the Nottingham Forest team.
