John Heard stars in "The Lizzie Borden Chronicles" on Lifetime as William Almy.

An actor with an illustrious career, John Heard is well known for his role as Peter McCallister (the father of Kevin McMallister) in the "Home Alone" series. He began his career on the stage, winning multiple awards in both Chicago and New York, including a 1976-77 Theatre World Award and Obie Awards for his off-Broadway performances in "Othello" and "Split."

His early big screen successes include performances in "Cutter's Way" and "Chilly Scenes of Winter" and as Jack Kerouac in "Heart Beat." From there, he built his career with starring roles in films such as "Big," "The Pelican Brief," "Beaches," "Home Alone," "Awakenings," "In the Line of Fire," "Pollock" and "White Chicks." He also starred in Andrew Davis' "The Package" with Tommy Lee Jones and Gene Hackman.

Heard starred in the independent feature films "American Gothic," opposite Patrick Wilson, Neal McDonough and Scott Michael Campbell, and "Sweetland," with Ned Beatty and Alan Cumming, which won the Audience Award at the Hamptons Film Festival. He also starred in and co-produced "Steel City," which was screened in the dramatic competition at 2006's Sundance Film Festival.

More recently, Heard has been seen in "Boys of Abu Ghraib" with Sean Astin, "Warren," alongside Jean Smart, "Runner Runner," starring Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake, "Snake and Mongoose," opposite Noah Wyle, "Assault on Wall Street," starring Dominic Purcell, "Would You Rather," opposite Brittany Snow, "The Great Debaters," starring Denzel Washington.

Heard has turned in many memorable performances on the small screen as well, including guest appearances in such television shows as "The Outer Limits," "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," "Hack" and three "Law & Order" series. He was nominated for a Cable ACE Award for Best Actor in a TV Movie for his 1987 performance in "Tender Is the Night," and his turn in the 1999 season of "The Sopranos" earned him an Emmy nomination. Heard more recently has been seen in recurring roles on "Prison Break," "CSI: Miami," "Jack & Bobby" and "NCIS: Los Angeles." In addition, he has appeared in episodes of "Numb3rs," "Battlestar Gallactica," "The Beast," "Southland," "Gravity," "Entourage, "The Chicago Code," "Perception," "Tim and Eric's Bedtime Stories," "Adam Devine's House Party," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "Modern Family," "Person of Interest" and "Mistresses." In addition, Heard was seen in the original movies "Too Big to Fail" on HBO and "Sharknado" on Syfy.
