John Michael Higgins stars in "Happily Divorced" on TV Land as Peter Lovett.

On the big screen, Higgins stars in the romantic drama "Big Miracle," opposite Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski, Cameron Crowe's "We Bought a Zoo," starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson, and the outrageous comedy "Bad Teacher," co-starring Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake.

The New York Times has called Higgins "one of the most skilled actors of his generation." An incredibly diverse artist, Higgins often surprises audiences by his chameleon-like character changes. The guy who played David Letterman in the highly acclaimed HBO movie "The Late Shift" is also the same guy who played the flamboyantly gay Shih Tzu dog handler, Scott Donlon, in Christopher Guest's film comedy "Best in Show."

Higgins starred in "Fired Up," a comedy for Screen Gems Pictures, as well as "Yes Man" with Jim Carrey for Warner Bros. In 2007, he starred opposite Vince Vaughn in "Fred Claus." Higgins also was seen in the Universal film "Evan Almighty," starring opposite Steve Carell and Morgan Freeman.

In addition to his film work, Higgins starred as Phil Knight on NBC's "Kath & Kim." He also starred in the Sony pilot "The Thick of It," alongside Oliver Platt. Mitch Hurwitz ("Arrested Development") created the pilot, which was directed by Guest. Higgins played a recurring role on "Arrested Development" as well during the show's three seasons.

Other feature credits include "The Break Up" with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston as well as the latest Guest film "For Your Consideration," which reunited him with his cast mates from "Best in Show" and "A Mighty Wind." Higgins also co-starred in the Sony film "Fun with Dick and Jane" opposite Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni, as well as David Goyer's "Blade 3" opposite Wesley Snipes.

On stage, Higgins starred in the title role of the Lincoln Center / Broadway premiere of the A.R. Gurney play "Big Bill," a searing drama about the fall from grace of the great American tennis champion Bill Tilden. He reprised this role from his Williamstown Theatre Festival triumph, where he is a popular fixture.

Higgins also provides numerous over-the-top voices for Cartoon Network's "Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law" and for CGI animated show "Game Over."

Christopher Guest, when planning his comic triumph "A Mighty Wind," asked John Michael Higgins not only to star as Terry Bohner, the color-cultish leader of the New Main Street Singers, but also to write razor-sharp parody songs and create the complex vocal and instrumental arrangements for the film and the best-selling soundtrack. Higgins went on a tour with the New Main Street Singers, selling out some of the most prestigious music venues in the United States.
