Joseph Mascolo stars in NBC's daytime soap opera "Days of Our Lives" as Stefano DiMera, which won him the "Soap Opera Digest" Award as Outstanding Villain in 1997. Mascolo joined the cast in October 1982.

Although Joseph Mascolo has won awards for his portrayals of nefarious TV bad guys, he may be as well-known for his charity work that resulted in a street being named in his honor in a Georgia city. Ocilla, Georgia, dedicated the street in appreciation of Mascolo's involvement with the Sunnydale School for disabled children and adults.

Mascolo has guest-starred on numerous primetime programs, including NBC's "Hunter," "Hill Street Blues," and "The Golden Girls," as well as "The Equalizer," "Crazy Like a Fox," "The Incredible Hulk" and "The Gangster Chronicles." He also appeared in the TV movies "Ernie Kovacs: Between the Laughter," "Dominic's Dream" and "Blood Feud."

His feature films include "Heat," "Jaws II," "Shaft's Big Score" and "Happy Mother's Day, Love George." Mascolo also starred in stage productions of "Marvin and Mel," "Born Yesterday," "A View from the Bridge" and "That Championship Season."

An accomplished clarinetist, Mascolo played for the Metropolitan Opera in New York City for two years, and he was in the United States Military Academy Band at West Point.

Mascolo is a native of West Hartford, Connecticut, and is the father of one son. In his leisure time, he enjoys decorating his home, gardening, horseback riding and playing tennis for various charities.
