Born and raised in Hong Kong and Macao, singer and actress Josie Ho is the daughter of Macau's casino king businessman, Stanley Ho. After graduating from a military academy in 1994, she began to appear in Japanese films such as "Lost and Found" and "Anna Magdalena." In 1999, she gave an enthusiastic performance in "Purple Storm" and was nominated for a supporting actress statue

at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards, which is held in Taiwan.

In 2002, Ho was seen in director Miike Takashi's cyberpunk science fiction film "Dead or Alive: Final," opposite Riki Takeuchi and Show Aikawa. Ho then appeared in "The Twins Effect," aka "Vampire Effect," the highest grossing movie in Hong Kong in 2003. She received a Best Supporting Actress nomination from the Hong Kong Film Awards for the role. In competition against herself though, she won the statue that same year for her performance in "Naked Ambition."

In 2004, Ho starred in "Butterfly," a movie about same-sex couple households. She played the role of a lesbian high school teacher, gaining a lot of praise at international film festivals. She then starred in "Isabella" (2006) and director Johnnie To's "Exiled" (2008) about an ex-gangster and two groups of hitmen: those who want to protect him and those who were sent to kill him.

Following this work, Ho was awarded Best Actress at the 43rd Sitges Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia for "Dream Home" in 2010. In addition, she starred with Mickey Rourke and Lili Taylor in "The Courier."
