Juliet Stevenson stars in "Atlantis" on BBC America.

Juliet Stevenson graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) with the highly prestigious Gold Bancroft Medal and her numerous appearances since then have marked her as one of the most admired British actresses working today. Her substantial cannon of work for the Royal Shakespeare Company includes Madam de Tourvel in the original production of "Les Liaisons Dangerous," Rosalind in "As You Like It," Titania in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," Cressida in "Troilus and Cressida" and Isabella in "Measure for Measure." For the Royal National Theatre, she appeared in "Hedda Gabler," "Yerma," "Caucasian Chalk Circle" and "Private Lives." At the Royal Court and in the West End, she did the first production of "Death and the Maiden," for which she won the Laurence Oliver Best Actress Award, "Burn This" with John Malkovich, "The Duchess of Malfi" and "We Happy Few."

Her many film roles include "A Previous Engagement," opposite Daniel Stern, "When Did You Last See Your Father?" with Jim Broadbent, Douglas McGrath's "Infamous," starring Toby Jones and Sandra Bullock, Anthony Minghella's "Breaking and Entering," alongside Jude Law and Robin Wright, "Red Mercury," opposite Stockard Channing and Pete Postlethwaite, "Being Julia," starring Annette Bening and Jeremy Irons, Mike Newell's "Mona Lisa Smile," starring Julia Roberts and Kirsten Dunst, "Nicholas Nickleby," alongside Charlie Hunnam and Christopher Plummer, "Bend It Like Beckham," opposite Parminder Nagra and Keira Knightley, Doug McGrath's "Emma" with Gwyneth Paltrow, and Anthony Minghella's "Truly Madly Deeply."

Her memorable television appearances include Annie Lee in Carlton's "Cider with Rosie," Flora in Channel 4's "The Politician's Wife," Nora in Ibsen's "The Doll's House" for the BBC, "Hear the Silence" for Channel 5 and "The Road from Corrain," for which she received the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actress in a Television Drama. She more recently starred in BBC One's "The Village" and ITV's "White Heat." She was also seen in the Inspector Lewis franchise movie "Old, Unhappy, Far Off Things" for PBS's Masterpiece Mystery! series.
