Karl Urban stars as Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy in J.J. Abram's movie, "Star Trek" (2009). Karl Urban has also been cast in "TRON 2.0."
Karl Urban is best known for his dynamic role as the Rohan warrior Eomer in the second and third installments of Peter Jackson's award-winning trilogy: "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" and "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King." Jackson cast Karl Urban after viewing him in a rough cut of the critically acclaimed independent film "The Price of Milk," which garnered Urban a Best Actor nomination at the New Zealand Film Awards.
Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Karl Urban first appeared on television as a child actor. Throughout his school years, Karl Urban wrote, directed and starred in many film and stage productions. As a young adult, Karl Urban postponed his university studies to further pursue his acting career, training and working throughout Australasia in theater and film.
Karl Urban starred in the action/sci-fi feature "Doom" for director Andrzej Bartkowiak; "The Bourne Supremacy" starring opposite Matt Damon; and in "The Chronicles of Riddick" with Vin Diesel and Dame Judi Dench. Other feature credits for Karl Urban include "Via Satellite" and "Ghost Ship," in which he starred opposite Gabriel Byrne and Julianna Margulies.
Karl Urban stars in the television film "Comanche Moon," based on the Larry McMurtry novel.
