Kelly Dempsey from "Project Runway 2015" is one of the contestants in Season 14 of the Lifetime reality fashion design competition series. She is a 31-year-old designer from Malden, Massachusetts. She was raised though in Monson, Massachusetts.

Kelly began studying fashion at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design at 26, but after two years she left to move back home to care for her sick dad. Currently working at a deli counter, she spends her days daydreaming of quitting and pursuing a full-time life in fashion. She's ready to take her career and her party-girl collections to the next level.

Why she'll win? Kelly is creative, fearless and energetic. She knows who she, what she wants and what she's willing to do to achieve success. Will the other designer befriend her or be offended by her?

Kelly's style icon is Madonna, while her favorite designers are Alexander McQueen, Betsy Johnson and Vivienne Westwood. Kelly's favorite past "Project Runway" designer is Mondo Guerra.

Here is an interview with Kelly:

When did you realize you had designer potential?

When I was about eight years old. My mom turned half of our house into a craft store, filled with everything she made from clothing to fork wind chimes. I grew up around it and was sick of wearing the same thing everyone else wore in my small town. The first thing I made was a tin foil skirt that I proudly wore it to school!

Have you won any awards for your designs?

I have never officially won an award, but I was invited as a designer to show at the 13th Annual New York Chocolate Fashion Show in New York. I was along side of a handful of well-known designers, including one former "Project Runway" designer, Kevin Christiana! So I felt like a winner considering my background.

Strengths as a designer?

Confidence is key. I am definitely not afraid to do something completely different then what everybody else is doing. I strive to see how far I can push the envelope. I also believe that being self-taught is a huge strength. I was not molded like anybody else that may have had similar inspirations in similar settings. I created my own individuality and have pick and chose what I wanted to learn along the way to create the designer I am today.

Weaknesses as a designer?

I believe that being a self-taught designer could also be a weakness. There may be some technical training I may have missed out on in the classroom, but I believe you cannot teach creativity. So if I only need to sharpen my technical skills, I'll take that any day.

Biggest fear as a designer?

Not becoming a successful fashion designer.

How did you end up auditioning for "Project Runway"?

I got an email from "Project Runway" this year asking if I was interested in trying out, so here I am! I did audition a few years back, but I believe timing is everything - in more ways than one. I would have not have been as ready as I am this time around.

Challenge you wish they'd bring back?

The grocery store challenge! The more unconventional the better! Plus if I get hungry along the way, I can snack!

Challenge you hope they don't?

The wrestling challenge. If the wrestlers don't like what I make, I don't want them to beat the hell out of me.

What's your take on team challenges?

It all depends who is on my team. It could either be amazing and we could come up with some really cool stuff, or there could be some serious clashing with pincushions being thrown. I rather rely on myself then anyone else.

Do you think you can win "Project Runway"?

I know I can. I always believed in myself as a designer. I know every designer could say that, but designing is what comes most natural to me. I hate to lose and I don't give up, so if I can bring to the runway what I know I am capable of, there is no doubt I will end up on top!
