Kevin James as Doug Heffernan on "The King of Queens" Kevin James Pictures Kevin James not only stars as Doug Heffernan in CBS's "The King of Queens," he also serves as one of the show's executive producers. Kevin James made the transition into television after being discovered at the 1996 Montreal Comedy Festival, where he signed a development deal to create his own show. Kevin James was also cast in a recurring role on "Everybody Loves Raymond" with his friend and fellow comic Ray Romano. Also a successful standup comedian, Kevin James was inspired by comedic idols such as Robert Klein and Jerry Seinfeld. Kevin James starred in his own one-hour comedy special, "Sweat the Small Stuff" on Comedy Central, and he makes regular appearances on the "Late Show with David Letterman." Kevin James tours the country performing his standup act. Entertainment Weekly took note of his comedic talent, naming him one of The 100 Most Creative People in Entertainment in its 2001 "It" issue. Kevin James most recently starred in "Hitch" with Will Smith and Eva Mendes. Kevin James will also voice the lead character, Otis, in the upcoming Nick Movies feature "The Barnyard." Kevin James was born in Mineola, New York, and raised in Stony Brook, New York. Kevin James currently lives in Los Angeles.
