Kirk Acevedo stars as Charlie Francis in FOX's "Fringe"

Kirk Acevedo is best known for his CableACE Award and Alma Award-nominated performance as Miguel Alvarez on the critically acclaimed drama "Oz." Kirk Acevedo recently starred as Nicky Cottero in Academy Award winners Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco's crime drama "The Black Donnellys."

Other television credits for Kirk Acevedo include starring roles as DA Investigator Hector Salazar on Dick Wolf's "Law & Order: Trial by Jury" and as Joseph Toye on the cable miniseries "Band of Brothers," the war epic that followed the lives of a select group of WWII soldiers, produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. Kirk Acevedo has also made guest appearances on "Cold Case," "24," "Numb3rs," "NYPD Blue," "Law & Order," "New York Undercover," "All My Children" and "Another World."

Kirk Acevedo starred opposite Mark Wahlberg in the feature film "Invincible," inspired by the true story of Philadelphia Eagles football player Vince Papale, and played opposite Colin Farrell in Terrence Malick's "The New World." Kirk Acevedo starred in the independent feature "5up 2down," a dark, gritty character-driven drama about the drug scene in New York City, and played "Private Tella" in the Oscar-nominated Terrence Malick film "The Thin Red Line," a role that earned him an Alma Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Film.

Kirk Acevedo's other film work includes Antoine Fuqua's "Bait" opposite Jamie Foxx and David Morse; Bob Giraldi's "Dinner Rush," an independent film opposite Danny Aiello, Sandra Bernhard and Vivian Wu; Ben Younger's "Boiler Room"; "In The Weeds"; "The Visit"; "Arresting Gena"; and "Kirk and Kerry," a short which won the Jury Prize at the 1997 Slamdance Film Festival.

Kirk Acevedo's off-Broadway performance in Sam Shepard's "Tooth of Crime," directed by Bill Hart, riveted audiences and critics alike and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award. Kirk Acevedo also played the title role in Travis Preston's production of Bernard-Marie Koltes' "Roberto Zucco."

After graduating from LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts, Acevedo enrolled in the State University of New York at Purchase School of Acting (Purchase College), graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.  Kirk Acevedo is a Bronx, New York native who now lives in Los Angeles with his family.
