Krista Hughes from "The Voice" is one of top 48 artists in Season 9 of the NBC reality singing competition series. From Coal City, West Virginia, she is on Blake Shelton's team.

Krista Hughes sang "Angel from Montgomery" by John Prine for her blind audition. After all four judges turned their chairs around, Krista chose Shelton to be her coach.

Krista's grandparents adopted her when she was a baby because her parents were too young to care for her at the time. She comes from a coal-mining town in West Virginia with a rich tradition of live music. Her great-grandfather was a coal miner and saved up to buy the farm that Krista grew up on. She learned to play guitar by watching the family jam sessions at her house every Friday night. After high school, Krista spent three years trying to make it as a musician, but being from such a small town, it was difficult to break out. Currently, she is attending college and studying biology but her true calling is singing on a big stage.

Where does she live? Find out here.

Age: ∼23 years old
