Born in Wisconsin, Kristin Bauer grew up playing sports, riding horses and firing shot guns; her father was a gun collector and horseman. She studied Fine Arts in St. Louis, Boston and New York. In 1993 she moved to Los Angeles and began her acting career.
She lives in Los Angeles with her South African husband, Abri van Straten, a singer, songwriter and classical guitar player for the band The Lemmings.
