Kristine Guico from "Project Runway 2014" is one of the contestants in Season 13 of the Lifetime reality fashion design competition series. She is a 26-year-old designer who is currently living in Brooklyn, New York, but was raised in Naperville, Illinois.

Here is an interview with Kristine Guico:

Describe your family:

Immediate — just my mom and dad — but my cousins and I are very close, we all talk everyday. Also, growing up, our house was very full; my younger cousin lived with me since he was born along with his mom (mom's sister) and my grandma and grandpa along with my mom and dad.

Current occupation?

Past jobs?

Associate designer, stylist, production assistant, and retail associate.

Not at the moment. My dog Nick, a cockapoo (cocker spaniel/poodle mix) passed away two years ago.

Panda, which I don't really like but I'm used to. In college my friend Photoshopped a photo of me with a panda and it just took off from there.

When did you realize you had designer potential?

I've always wanted to design clothes since I was little. I started as early as I can remember. Four years old. I would chop up my Barbie's clothes, dye things, embroider things. Instead of silent reading time, I would hide in the coat racks and sketch complete outfits. It was just always a part of me.

First garment you ever made?

This is tough. I remember hand sewing when I was little before I knew machines existed. What I can remember: a custom pajama set designed and fit for myself for my birthday slumber party.

What's your design training/schooling, etc.?

Started sewing classes when I was eleven years old, then in middle school and high school I took sewing classes in school and as well in extracurricular sewing clubs. Then I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology with my BFA in fashion design.

Have you won any awards for your designs/work related to design?

I have not won awards, but have had work featured in print.

Strengths as a designer?

Thinking about what's on trend, knowing where the market is going, thinking out of the box and being original yet still relatable. Knowledge of good quality construction. I also worked in the industry so knowing what is feasible and what can actually be executed from inception to production.

Weaknesses as a designer?

I can push and design things that are not ready for the general masses and can be too fashion forward to make a profit and meet sales goals. Also, I am interested in so many things that it's hard to edit or sometimes be cohesive.

What are your influences?

In the past, especially when I was young, I was stubborn and refused to look at fashion magazines a lot or be influenced by what was going on in the industry, because I did not want my work to resemble anyone else's and know that my work came from my own vision. But now out of my young teen angsty stage, I am aware that is crucial to be aware of your colleagues and be knowledgeable of the industry on a business and creative level and all aspects.

What's playing on your iPod when you're designing?

Anything from hip-hop to Taylor Swift. Not country though.

Favorite material or fabric to work with?

Leather, neoprene, vinyl and organza.

Item you're most proud of designing?

My current collection, although it is small and came from a lot of limitations financially, I think the quality is strong and it captures my ideas. With that said, it has caught well-respected attention with barely any press. So I feel proud that people appreciate my work even though I am still on the down low.

Favorite designer(s)?

Kenzo, Alexander Wang, Christopher Kane, Jen Kao.
