Laramie Eppler stars in "The Tree of Life" as R.L, one of the three sons to Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien, the Texas family at the center of the film. Written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Terrence Malick, the impressionistic drama stars Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain. The film marks Eppler's acting debut.
Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, and raised in Iowa Park, Texas, Laramie Eppler is currently an eighth grader at W.F. George Middle School. In addition to acting, Laramie plays football
and basketball, baseball, runs track, and is in the National Honors Society. He also spends a great deal of time working, showing market goats, hunting, and rodeoing.
As with all three sons in "The Tree of Life," Eppler is a acting newcomer and a Texas native. Rather than going with any established child actors, director Malick sought out more inexperienced young actors who could deliver more naturalistic performances.
