"The Last Ship" (TV show) on TNT is an action-packed drama series starring Eric Dane ("Grey's Anatomy") and executive-produced by blockbuster filmmaker Michael Bay ("Transformers").

The story opens with a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world's population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James avoids falling victim to the devastating tragedy. But now the crew and its captain must confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors.

Dane stars as Captain Tom Chandler, a career Navy man who is authoritative and decisive, but also fair and courageous. A born leader and a loving father and husband, Chandler is respected and loved by the men and women under his command. The cast also includes Rhona Mitra ("Strike Back") as Rachel Scott, a strong-willed, intelligent and fearless paleomicrobiologist assigned to the Nathan James to investigate the cause of billions of deaths worldwide. Adam Baldwin ("Firefly," "Chuck") is Slattery, the ship's second-in-command who worries deeply about his family and occasionally clashes with Dane's Captain Chandler over the best course of action. And Tracy Middendorf ("Boardwalk Empire," "Mission: Impossible III") plays Darien Chandler, the captain's wife.

The cast also includes Travis Van Winkle ("Heart of Dixie"), Charles Parnell ("Pariah"), Christina Elmore ("Fruitvale Station"), Sam Spruell ("Snow White and the Huntsman") and Marissa Neitling ("Leverage").

Season 2

In the second season, the crew of the Nathan James has begun disseminating the cure developed by paleomicrobiologist Dr. Rachel Scott. Their arrival back on U.S. soil, however, has been met with opposition in the form of a new world order under the leadership of Amy Granderson. To make matters worse, Chandler and his crew now face a new enemy: the Immunes, a group of naturally immune survivors bent on taking over the world.

Season 3

Following the epic Season 2 cliffhanger, the third season finds the crew of the Nathan James shifting their attention to Asia after President Michener hears rumblings that the Chinese leader, President Peng, has been hoarding the "Scott cure" instead of distributing it to the people in the region. Michener sends Chandler to a global summit to investigate this allegation, as well as rumors of a possible mutation of the original virus that has caused a fresh outbreak in Japan. If the mutation has occurred, and Asia has not been protected, the consequences for the world are dire. And with Rachel Scott shot in the season two finale, and her fate as yet unknown, hope is in low supply.

Based on William Brinkley's popular novel, "The Last Ship" comes to TNT from Bay's Platinum Dunes and its partners, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, whose credits include upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." Bay, Fuller and Form serve as executive producers, along with showrunner Hank Steinberg ("Without a Trace") and Steven Kane ("The Closer"). Steinberg and Kane wrote the series pilot, which was directed by Jonathan Mostow ("U-571").
