Lawrence Matthews from "Steven Seagal Lawman" is one of the police officers in the A&E reality docu-series.
It was being a school crossing guard in grade school that got law enforcement in Sgt. Lawrence Matthews' blood. His continued interest brought him to the US Air Force, where he served as a military police officer, and to the New Orleans Police Department where, in 1988, he became a Reserve Officer. He stayed with the NOPD for 12 years before heading across the river to join the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. He's been with the JPSO for a total of 21 years now, yet still "acts like a new recruit"—excited and eager to be out on the street in all the action. "I'll be out here until the Lord come gets me."
Sgt. Matthews' specialty is warrants—hunting criminals door-to-door, even all over the country, until he can secure them behind bars. "Sometimes it can take three or four months. When I finally find a person that I'm looking for, I get chill bumps."
Married 39 years and with two grown boys, Sgt. Lawrence still takes his wife out every Thursday evening for "Date Night." "We've been going together since the 6th grade." They've recently become the proud parents of a Yorkshire Terrier named Creasy.
