Lilly Kilvert from "Hot Set" is one of the judges on the Syfy reality production design competition series.

Lilly Kilvert is an Oscar-nominated production designer. Best known for her Academy Award-winning recognition on behalf of "The Last Samurai" and "Legends of the Fall," Kilvert was also nominated for an Excellence in Production Design Award for "The Last Samurai" as well as "The Crucible."

Kilvert has worked on numerous notable feature films ranging from "In the Line of Fire" to "The American President," "Valkyrie," "Strange Days," "City of Angels," "Siege," "The Pink Panther" and "To Live and Die in LA." Born in Rhode Island, Kilvert attended Bard College in New York, where she studied art, physics and photography and printed for a very well-known commercial photographer where she also was in charge of building sets for him. Kilvert first became interested in set design while she was building sets for magazine layouts. Her first film she worked on was "Alambrista," directed by Robert Young. Kilvert did set design, wardrobe, makeup, painting and special effects makeup. After working on small films in New York, she moved to Los Angeles in the early 1980s to work on mainstream feature films.

She has two children and is presently doing feasibility studies for two films set in the Balkans.
