Linda Lavin stars in "Sean Saves the World" on NBC as Lorna.

Linda Lavin made a name for herself on Broadway in the 1960s, earning a Tony nomination in 1969 for "Last of the Red Hot Lovers" and appearing in "A Family Affair," "The Riot Act," "It's a Bird ... It's a Plane ... It's Superman," "Something Different" and "Cop-Out." From 1976 to 1985, she starred in her own hit television series, "Alice," which earned her two Golden Globe awards and an Emmy nomination.

In 1987, Lavin won a Tony Award for her work in "Broadway Bound." She was nominated for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play for "The Diary of Anne Frank" in 1998 and for Outstanding Actress in a Play again for "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife" in 2001. Other recent stage credits include "The Lyon," "Collected Stories," "Hollywood Arms," "The Sisters Rosensweig" and "Gypsy." She has also worked in dinner theater.

In 2004, she introduced herself to another generation of television viewers when she guest-starred on FOX's "The O.C." as the mother of Peter Gallagher's character. She took a turn at both comedic and dramatic acting, as her character abruptly blurted out that she was dying from lung cancer. Lavin previously starred with Patricia Heaton in ABC's comedy "Room for Two" and alongside Mark Feuerstein in the short-lived NBC sitcom "Conrad Bloom." She has also made guest appearances in "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "The Sopranos" and "Touched by an Angel."

On the big screen, Lavin was recently seen in "Wanderlust," starring Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston, and "The Back-up Plan," starring Jennifer Lopez and Alex O'Loughlin.
