Linda Marcus from "Project Runway 2016" is one of the contestants in Season 15 of the Lifetime reality fashion design competition series. She is a 55-year-old designer from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

After working as a TV news reporter for fifteen years, Linda Marcus left the business to raise a family, but felt a need to tell stories through her designs. This self-taught designer uses her age and life experience to create relatable designs for women, and is constantly drawing inspiration from the culture around her. Linda loves to work with natural materials like cotton, light wools and silk, and loves black, white, blue and green hues.

Marcus' favorite designers are Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, Ricky Owens, and Vivian Westwood, while her style icons are Iman, Jessica Alba, and Zendaya, Marcus' favorite past "Project Runway" designers are Mondo Guerra, Austin Scarlett, and Dom Streater.

Here is an interview with Marcus:

When did you realize you had designer potential?

When I started sewing at the age of twelve.

What is your design training?

I am not formally trained. I am self-taught. I basically use trial and error as my education. I fail a lot and learn from those experiences. It's instructive and humbling at the same time. I have had one year of training with a woman about a year ago that taught me the correct way to drape and pattern, but I never went to school for it.

Strengths as a designer?

I think because I am older, I can relate to women who want to still look relevant and edgy while at the same time look appropriate for their age. I love to make designs that both a mother and daughter can share. The design is the same, but it might be styled much differently on each. I have also used that same philosophy on clothes for a recent line that is unisex.

Weaknesses as a designer?

I think my biggest weakness is not being traditionally trained.

How did you end up auditioning for "Project Runway"?

I have auditioned three other times. I have always been a big fan. I finally got up enough guts to send in an application three years ago and here I am.

Challenge you wish they'd bring back?

Making a dress of card stock. I loved that.

Challenge you hope they don't?

Hmm… making clothes out of candy.

What's your take on team challenges?

I think team challenges are just like life. You can't design in a bubble. You need to work with others. I like working with other artists. I usually learn something from it.

Do you think you can win "Project Runway"?

Yes, absolutely. You can't expect others to believe in you if you don't. I think I offer a different perspective. Yes, I'm older and yes, I'm not classically trained, but I think that is a good thing. I think I'm able to see inspiration in places that someone much younger might not because they haven't had as many life experiences.
