Luis Torres from "Shark Wranglers" stars in the History Channel reality docu-series.

Before the ocean became his home, Luis Torres found his way into the culinary arts as a teenager by working in hotels and restaurants in Panama and Japan. Known as "the workhorse," Torres serves a broad range of culinary fare aboard the MV OCEARCH. His style is influenced by his hometown, Panama City, and his many travels around the world. Like fuel for the ship's engines, he delivers critical nutrition for the crew and scientists — no small feat when you're cooking four times a day, seven days a week for up to 20 hungry people. Like top athletes, the OCEARCH crew burns calories rapidly, demanding high protein and carb intake. Quiet yet always quick with a smile, Luis must make the most of his minimal galley space. But don't enter the kitchen when Luis is working — he's very territorial about his domain.

Luis has gained a great respect for the ocean after years of working with Chris Fischer to support the mission of protecting sharks, the most efficient eating machine of the sea.
