Malaya Watson from "American Idol 2014" is one of the top 13 contestants in Season 13 of the FOX reality singing competition. She sang "Ain't No Way" by Aretha Franklin for her audition in Detroit, Michigan. In her audition interview, she said, "I thought it would be a cool idea to audition for 'American Idol' because this has really been my dream all my life since I've been a little kid … so I'm trying to make it come true!"

Raised in Detroit, Michigan, Malaya Watson comes from a family of musicians and has been singing since she "left the womb." She plays the piano, tuba, several percussion instruments and a little violin. She says, "I'm sixteen but I have all this soul! I get that a lot. I have this soul that touches people. It gives people quivers!"

She has covered such songs as "Body Party" by Ciara, "Ain't No Way" by Aretha Franklin, and "Through the Fire" by Chaka Khan.

She is a student living in Southfield, Michigan.
