Mamoudou Athie stars in Netflix's original drama series "The Get Down" as Grandmaster Flash.

Up-and-coming actor Mamoudou Athie is a Hollywood newcomer who graduated in 2014 from the Yale School of Drama, where he performed he stage productions of "Twelfth Night," "Hedda Gabler," "The Visit," "As You Like It," "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "Iphigenia Among the Stars" and "Fox Play." While there, he also performed with the Yale Cabaret in "Fatal Eggs," "Funnyhouse of a Negro" and "The Yiddish King Lear," and with the Yale Summer Cabaret in "Tartuffe" and "Hearts Desire." In addition, he appeared in "Hamlet," opposite Paul Giamatti, at the Yale Reportory Theatre.

Other stage work includes "Becoming Sylvia," "Tripolitania" and "The Zoo Story," all at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, "The Merchant of Venice" with the Shakespeare Theatre Company, and "The Wedding Reception" at Columbia Stages.

On television, Athie made his debut in an episode of CBS's drama series "Madam Secretary."

Athie enjoys playing tennis and football.
