"Margaret" is a movie that centers on Lisa, a 17-year-old New York City high-school student who feels certain that she inadvertently played a role in a traffic accident that has claimed a woman's life. In her attempts to set things right she meets with opposition at every step. Torn apart with frustration, she begins emotionally brutalizing her family, her friends, her teachers, and most of all, herself. She has been confronted quite unexpectedly with a basic truth: that her youthful ideals are on a collision course against the realities and compromises of the adult world.

The ensemble cast, headed by Anna Paquin, includes J. Smith-Cameron, Jean Reno, Jeannie Berlin, Allison Janney, Matthew Broderick, Kieran Culkin with Mark Ruffalo and Matt Damon.

"Margaret" is a Camelot Pictures presentation of a Gilbert Films / Mirage Enterprises / Scott Rudin production. Written and directed by Kenneth Lonergan, the film is produced by Sydney Pollack, Gary Gilbert and Scott Rudin and executive produced by Anthony Minghella with Blair Breard as co-producer. The creative team includes director of photography Ryszard Lenczewski ("Intermission"), production designer Dan Leigh ("Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"), editors Anne McCabe ("Adventureland") and Michael Fay ("Rachel Getting Married") and costume designer Melissa Toth ("Win Win"). Music is by Nico Muhly ("The Reader").
