Maria Doyle Kennedy stars in "Orphan Black" on BBC America as Mrs. S, Sarah's (Tatiana Maslany) hard-nosed working class foster mother from across the pond.

Kennedy previously recurred in PBS's "Downton Abbey" as Vera Bates. She also stars in the series creator and writer Julian Fellowes' ABC miniseries "Titanic" (2012) as Muriel Batley. On the big screen, she recently starred as Mary in "Albert Nobbs," opposite Glenn Close.

Numerous film roles, including John Boorman's "The General" (1998) and "Tara Road" alongside Andie MacDowell, and television roles in Showtime's "The Tudors" and "Dexter," have brought her to the attention of U.S. audiences. Her credits also include the PBS miniseries "Oliver Twist," the British version of "Queer as Folk," and the Irish TV series "Hide & Seek."

Doyle Kennedy recorded two albums with The Black Velvet Band before releasing her highly acclaimed solo album, "Charm," in 2001.
