in Los Angeles to introduce their interactive video game, "The Beatles: Rock Band." The surviving Beatles and John and George's widows gave their only television interviews to Hart.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Hart was the only entertainment journalist to interview all of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates. Hart traveled to Detroit for an interview with then-Sen. Barack Obama, wife Michelle Obama, and then-Senator Joe Biden with wife Jill Biden. Hart also visited Senator John McCain and wife Cindy at their home in New Mexico and Governor Sarah Palin at a rally in Florida. Hart visited with First Lady Laura Bush during her last Christmas in the White House.

Additionally, Hart traveled to Rome to interview Tom Hanks on the set of Ron Howard's "Angels & Demons."

In 2008, Hart was ordained, and she subsequently conducted the wedding ceremony of the winners of the "Made of Honor Get Married at the Premiere" contest in New York City, which promoted the feature film release, "Made of Honor." Hart also traveled to France to cover the Cannes Film Festival where she interviewed the cast of the highly anticipated film, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Other notable interviews included one-on-ones with Harrison Ford, Sandra Bullock, Hugh Jackman, Donna Summer, Julie Andrews and Motown founder Berry Gordy, Jr.

The year before, Hart conducted an exclusive conversation with Dame Elizabeth Taylor. The interview took place in Taylor's home where she showcased her private jewelry collection. In May of 2007, Hart sat down with Olivia Newton John and her daughter Chloe, who opened up for the first time about her battle with anorexia.

In 1999, Hart was inducted into Broadcasting & Cable's Hall of Fame, along with such luminaries as Tom Brokaw and the late Brandon Tartikoff. Relatedly, in 2006 Hart accepted the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame Award on behalf of "Entertainment Tonight."

Also in 2006, Hart was the sole American journalist aboard "The DaVinci Code" train as the cast traveled from London to the film's premiere at The Cannes Film Festival. She was the only reporter to get a one-on-one interview with star Tom Hanks. That same year, Hart was also the only journalist to visit the set of the newest James Bond installment, "Casino Royale," in Prague, Czech Republic. In addition, Hart was the sole media representative invited to visit with the entire cast of "All the King's Men" on set in New Orleans, where she was also granted a rare interview with Academy Award winner Sean Penn.

The American Women in Radio & Television (AWRT) honored Hart with the 2002 Gracie Allen Award, which recognizes those responsible for "exemplary programming created for women, by women and about women in all facets of broadcasting and electronic media."

Hart was featured on A&E Network's "Biography" series in 2000, which profiled her journey from growing up in South Dakota to becoming one of the most recognized personalities in the world of entertainment broadcast journalism.

In 1998, Hart was awarded AWRT's Silver Satellite Award for outstanding accomplishments in electronic communications. In 1990, Hart was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

A South Dakota native, Hart attended Augustana College, where she majored in English. Soon after graduation, she became a high school English teacher in Sioux Falls while simultaneously hosting a local cable show. Later, upon moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Hart added a television and radio show to her on-air resume.

In 1976, Hart moved to Oklahoma City, where she spent three years co-hosting "Dannysday," a noontime talk show on the NBC affiliate. Upon moving to Los Angeles in 1981, Hart hosted the popular "PM Magazine." She impressed NBC executives so much that they hired her to co-host the national daytime talk show, "The Regis Philbin Show." Soon after that series ended in 1982, Paramount Domestic Television (now CBS Television Distribution) tapped Hart for "Entertainment Tonight," where she continues to define entertainment journalism to this day.

In her personal life, Hart has been involved with several philanthropic causes devoted to children. She is a member of the board of trustees for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and is Leadership Chair of the New Hospital Campaign. She is also an ambassador for Childhelp USA, an organization that combats child abuse across America. She has served on the board of directors for the National Childhood Cancer Foundation for many years and she continues her affiliation with the Children's Miracle Network, for which she has served as telethon co-host for 15 years. In 2001, she was honored with the first-ever Children's Miracle Achievement Award for her "long-standing commitment to children and contributing in many ways to bettering the lives of children everywhere." Hart is also a recipient of the Samaritan Award from the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation (NABEF) for her work on behalf of several children's charities. In addition, she helps raise awareness about heart disease through her efforts with the American Heart Association. She was the mistress of ceremonies for the Heart Fund's Humanitarian of the Year Gala in 2004.
