Mauricio Herrera from "America's Got Talent 2011" is one of the Top 48 acts in Season 6 of the NBC talent competition series. He is a singer and dancer who currently lives in Pomona, California.
Singing since age five, Mauricio Herrera ("America's Got Talent 2011") has built a career for himself as an entertainer that spans both Central and North America. Born in Orange, California, Herrera returned with his family to Costa Rica where his musical career blossomed and took hold. During high school, Herrera sang and performed for a variety of television shows. At 19, he became the lead singer for the group Banzai, who opened for renowned musical artists such as Enrique Eglesias, Joaquin Sabina, Miguel Rios and Alejandro Fernandez. In 2002, Herrera returned to the United States to pursue his dream of becoming the most successful Latin showman in America. However, he encountered a set back in 2005 when his father, whom he called "his biggest fan and supporter," died of pancreatic cancer. After taking some time away to be with his family, Herrera decided to get his career goals back on track. He realizes the challenges of the North American market and is dedicated to improving his performances in English as well as Spanish.
