Melani Ismail from "Football Wives" is one of the wives on the VH1 reality docu-series.
Melani Ismail ("Football Wives") is married to Rocket Ismail, who is a former college and pro football star receiver. After meeting on a blind date, Melani and Rocket married four months later and were pregnant with their first child Little Rocket later that year. Fifteen years and four children later, the Ismails are a couple who truly enjoy being one another's best friend, still behaving like newlyweds.
Melani Ismail, also known as Melaniwho?, started her musical career in the mirror singing through paper towel rolls and kazoos at the age of 6. She grew up in family of hairdressers and picked up the talent of cutting hair which launched her journey into the entertainment industry. Before graduating high school she was already working as a stylist for some of the biggest names in Entertainment. Her gift, afforded her the opportunity to pursue her first passion of making music, and developing artists. Most of her clients spent countless hours in studios and on movie sets. This gave her the chance to learn the business. At the age of 18, she signed her first group, Flavah of Behavia. This was Melani's first lesson on management, production and contract negotiations.
While pursuing a career in the music business, she met her husband, Rocket Ismail and was married shortly thereafter and had to put her music dreams on hold for a few years. After finally settling in Dallas, she and Rocket decided to open a record label, City of Zion Records. Her vision was to have a label that welcomed all types of music, and people, while still maintaining a positive message. The first project COZ Records released was a Christian Hip Hop collaboration 3SOT(Three Sons of Thunder) that featured her husband, Former NFL Player Rocket Ismail and Christian Hip Hop veterans, The Dynamic Twins, The album was titled, "The Reign Cometh." The second single from the album won a Billboards honorable mention (2006), as well as being nominated for Best song Category for The Independent Music Awards (2007). "Seasons" was also chosen as the theme song for the non-profit organization, Women called Moses.
Shortly after wrapping up the first project, Melani began production on an original mixtape, titled, "The King J Mixtape." "The King J Mixtape" featured a plethora of artists from around the country, handpicked by Melaniwho?. "The King J Mixtape," set the foundation for the direction of the company. COZ Records signed it's first Producer/Artist, Goodfella, and R&B group "214. Melaniwho and her partners, Goodfella, and Cash Callaway, formed a production unit called "The City" and produced the debut album for 214. During this same year, Melani, co/executive produced a film project through COZ Films, called "The Walk" starring Eva Pigford, which was released through CodeBlack/ Universal Pictures. She also did consulting for R&B Singer, Tamia's new label venture Plus One, on new media development. Melaniwho also did the initial online launch, which put Tamia in the top ten worldwide on social networks in the R&B and Pop category.
In 2008, Melaniwho's passion for singing began to pull on her and she recorded her own single called "Why Must I," which was nominated for Best R&B song Category for The Independent Music Awards(2007) After some soul searching Melani decided to release a full album and took the name Melaniwho? The name suggested that she could switch hats while still being the same Melani. Thus, the"Love and Worship" project was born. She recently headlined her own show, which led to a performance for The NFL Wives Conference in DC, which led to more shows. Melaniwho is currently performing while actively producing and writing through her production company. She keeps her business side stimulated by consulting for artists, producers and startup labels through her company MW? Productions.
