Michael Paré was born in Brooklyn, New York, the eighth of ten children. After finishing high school a year early, Michael was awarded a scholarship to the University of MIchigan. However he opted to head to New York to study and become a master chef at the Culinary Institute of America. He eventually worked his way up to sous-chef at the Tavern On The Green restaurant in Manhattan.
At 22, Michael began appearing in commercials and print ads, which led to an audition for the ABC series "The Greatest American Hero" and a regular role in the series. Soon after Paré landed a role in the ABC TV movie "Crazy Times," alongside Ray Liotta and David Caruso, and then the titular role in "Eddie and the Cruisers."
Paré's other film credits include "The Philadelphia Experiment," "Streets of Fire," "Bad Moon," "Hope Floats," starring Sandra Bullock, Harry Connick, Jr. and Rosanna Arquette, and "Into the Sun." He also appeared in "The Virgin Suicides," produced by Francis Ford Coppola and directed by Sofia Coppola.
