Mohammad Bakri stars in "Of Kings and Prophets" on ABC as Samuel.

Mohammad Bakri was born in the Arab village of Bi'ina in the Galilee in Israel in 1953. He went to elementary school in his hometown and received his secondary education in the nearby city of Acre. He studied acting and Arabic literature at Tel Aviv University in 1973 and graduated three years later.

Bakri began his professional acting career in several theaters in Israel and the West Bank, notably the Habima National Theatre in Tel-Aviv, the Haifa theater and the Al-Kasaba theater in Ramallah. After a few years of acting in Israeli films, Bakri began to act in international films in nations such as France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and Canada. Bakri also directed two documentary films, including the controversial "Jenin, Jenin" and most recently the autobiographical documentary "Since You Left."

Bakri began his solo performance of the play "The Pessoptimist" in 1986. Since then, he has performed it 1,500 times in Arabic and Hebrew in USA, Japan, France, Italy, Germany, Egypt, Morocco, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Tunis, Jordan and Israel.

On US television, Bakri recently had a recurring role in FX's drama series "Tyrant."
