NJ5ive is made up of Patterson, N.J., natives Gerald "G" Julien, Quashawn "Qua" Jordan, Shamir "Sha" Alexander, Bernard "Destyn" Hill Jr. and Marquise "Kyree" Foster. The guys believe it's the combination of their five distinct talents and personalities that make them major contenders on "MTV's Top Pop Group." G craves control, Qua oozes passion, Sha plays it cool, Destyn is sensual and Kyree is a wild man.
When the NJ5ive guys aren't leaning on each other, they look to their families for love and support. In fact, family is very important to G, who sends the money he earns singing to his relatives in Haiti. Meanwhile, Sha sings to honor his mother, who died of a heart attack.
Destyn, a natural born musician, started his career at a young age by singing opera and playing the piano. Proving to be the rock of the group, Qua found solace in singing and writing lyrics while his father drifted in and out prison during his youth. Last, but certainly not least, Kyree attributes his talent to his father, a talented musician and his biggest influence.
For these five friends, music is more than a hobby; it's a release from all of life's hardships and a way to secure a successful future. In fact, the guys see being in NJ5ive as a form of therapy.
