Neil Patrick Harris stars in "How I Met Your Mother" (HIMYM) on CBS as Barney. The role has garnered him multiple Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominations, as well as a People's Choice Award for Favorite TV Comedy Actor, and a Critics' Choice Award for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

In 2010, Neil won two Emmy Awards, for his guest-starring turn on the critically acclaimed series "Glee," and as the host of the 63rd Annual Tony Awards. In addition to hosting the 2009 Tony Awards, Harris also served as host and producer of both the 65th Annual Tony Awards and the 61st Annual Primetime Emmys. Named one of the "2008 Entertainers of the Year" by Entertainment Weekly, Harris was also included on Time Magazine's 2010 Time 100 List, an annual list of the world's leading thinkers, leaders, artists, and heroes.

A three-time Emmy Award nominee for HIMYM and a television staple since his Golden Globe Award-nominated role in "Doogie Howser, M.D.," Neil Patrick Harris has since firmly established himself in all mediums.

In the theater, he has starred in Arthur Miller's "All My Sons" at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, the London musical production of Jonathan Larson's "Tick, Tick ... Boom," and the Tony Award-winning musical "Assassins," "Cabaret" and "Proof." Harris also performed in the Los Angeles production of "Rent," "Romeo and Juliet" at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego and the concert production of "Reprise! Sweeney Todd" at Lincoln Center in New York. His association with the Pulitzer Prize-winning production of "Rent" will soon continue when he moves his musical directorial debut with the Hollywood Bowl's upcoming staging of the production. Harris mixed his love of magic and theater at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival when he directed "The Expert at the Card Table."

Neil stars in the hit musical web series "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog," which reached #1 on iTunes. "Dr. Horrible," by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" writer Joss Whedon, features Harris in the title role as "a low-rent super villain" wannabe.

Other television credits include a series regular role on "Stark Raving Mad" and guest-starring roles on "Glee," "Sesame Street," "Will & Grace," "Ed," "Boomtown," "Numb3rs," and the miniseries "Joan of Arc," as well as the CBS television movies "The Christmas Blessing" and "The Wedding Dress." His other television movie credits include "The Man in the Attic" and "Cold Sassy Tree."

His feature film credits include "The Smurfs," with Hank Azaria and Jayma Mays, "Beastly" opposite Vanessa Hudgens, Alex Pettyfer and Mary-Kate Olsen, "A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas," "Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay," "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle," "Undercover Brother," "Starship Troopers," "The Next Big Thing," "Clara's Heart," for which he received a Golden Globe nomination, and "The Best and the Brightest."

Harris' voice-over credits include the CBS holiday special, "Yes, Virginia," "The Simpsons," "Robot Chicken," "Family Guy," "Justice League" and the duo role of Peter Parker and Spider-Man in the MTV animated series. He also lent his voice to the live-action/animatronic sequel, "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore," which opened in theaters in July 2010. Additional voice work includes creating character voices for numerous books on tape, including "Slake's Limbo," "Ribsy," and the award-winning children's book, "Henry Huggins," as well as the film "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs."

An avid fan of the variety arts, Harris enjoys magic, juggling, trapeze, and tightrope. In addition, he is also an enthusiast of all types of games, including game shows, board games, scavenger hunts, etc.

Harris currently serves as a celebrity cabinet member for the Red Cross, and is also a loyal supporter of Food on Foot, a homeless shelter in Hollywood.

Harris was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and lives in Los Angeles.
