SATURDAY — The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) tonight awarded the 2009-2010 Creative Arts Primetime Emmy Awards for programs and individual achievements at the 62nd Emmy Awards presentation at the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. Included among the presentations were Emmy Awards for the following previously announced categories: Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation, and Outstanding Costumes for a Variety/Music Program or a Special. Additionally, Governors Awards were presented to Norman Brokaw and the Ad Council, and the Syd Cassyd Founders Award was given to John Leverence in recognition of his service to the Academy. ATAS Chairman & CEO John Shaffner participated in the awards ceremony assisted by a lineup of major television stars as presenters.

At a previous awards ceremony on Saturday, August 14, the following awards for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development were announced:

Philo T. Farnsworth Corporate Achievement Awards to Desilu and Digidesign. Desilu was honored for its innovation of using a multi-camera film setup before a live studio audience. Desilu also used conventional film studio materials, production and processing techniques which made "I Love Lucy" immediately available for production and distribution of prints when the series went into syndication at local stations around the country. In addition, the honor is bestowed to commemorate the upcoming 60th anniversary of "I Love Lucy's" debut. Digidesign is a pioneering digital design technology company founded in 1984 by Peter Gotcher and Evan Brooks that later became a part of Avid Technology. This Farnsworth award memoralizes and commemorates Digidesign's historic role while recognizing its ongoing industry importance.
