NEW YORK, NY — Robert and Cortney Novogratz, the husband and wife design team who juggle seven children and dozens of clients, will now star in HGTV's new series "Home by Novogratz." During the series, which premieres Saturday, July 16, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, the couple takes on a new residential design project each week and creates wildly original spaces that showcase a funky, downtown-chic aesthetic and unpretentious design sensibility. For their clients, the Novogratz pull together an eclectic mix of shopping finds and then present a spectacular custom room that surpasses every expectation.
"Robert and Cortney's unique approach to design turns the aspirational into the accessible," said Kathleen Finch, general manager, HGTV. "Viewers will find inspiration in the couple's amazingly creative designs, learn how easy it is to achieve them and find out how the Novogratz manage it all while raising seven children."
In the premiere episode, Robert and Cortney meet sisters who recently purchased a fixer-upper in Rockaway Beach near New York City. The homeowners, who are on a limited budget, say they love surfing, bright colors and patterns. The home, however, needs serious structural repair, including new floors, stairs, countertops and cabinetry. The Novogratz must rely on their creativity to transform the broken-down home into the Bohemian beach house of the homeowners' dreams.
In other episodes of "Home by Novogratz," produced by Left/Right, Inc., Robert and Cortney demonstrate how they creatively transform everyday items into beautifully unique home décor, such as custom-designed wallpaper made from family photos. Many of their designs include unexpected touches, such as a rainbow-colored slide alongside a basement staircase and repurposed salvaged antiques with funky fabrics and vibrant paint colors. Each week viewers can expect to see spectacular room makeovers that reflect the couple's unique ability to identify and determine the practical potential for everything from art to artifacts and furniture to fabric.
