The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the nominations for the 63rd annual Emmy Awards this morning. HBO led the field for the twelfth consecutive year with a whopping 104 bids, more than doubling its closet rival CBS with 50. HBO's miniseries "Mildred Pierce" earned 21 nods, the most of any program, followed by AMC's "Mad Men" with 19, HBO's new drama "Boardwalk Empire" with 18, and ABC's "Modern Family" with 17. Coming up close behind were NBC's "Saturday Night Live" with 16, HBO's new fantasy drama "Game of Thrones" and NBC's "30 Rock" tied with 13, and FOX's "Glee" with 12.

"Mad Men" is looking for a fourth straight win for drama series to match previous streaks by "Hill Street Blues" and "The West Wing," facing off with two new HBO dramas, "Boardwalk Empire" and "Game of Thrones," as well as "Dexter," "The Good Wife," and the final season of "Friday Night Lights."

NBC's Thursday night lineup takes three of the comedy series slots with "The Office," "30 Rock" and "Parks and Recreation," which go up against defending champ "Modern Family," as well as "Glee" and "The Big Bang Theory."

The main awards ceremony will be telecast on Sept. 18 on FOX, while the creative arts awards will be given out on Sept. 10.
