Nick Fradiani from "American Idol 2015" is one of the top 24 contestants in Season 14 of the FOX reality singing competition. He sang "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel for his audition in New York. Nick is from Gulford, Connecticut.

Nick Fradiani is the lead singer of the pop rock band Beach Avenue. He also plays the guitar. Other band members include his father, Ryan Zipp, Nick Abraham and Jonah Ferrigno. Since winning Mohegan Sun's annual Battle of the Bands in 2011, the band has released two EPs: "Something to Believe In" and "Driving That Road." The band was one of acts that competed in Season 9 of NBC's reality competition series "America's Got Talent" in summer 2014. They made it past the auditions but were eliminated during Judgment Week.

Here is an interview with Nick:

When did you first start singing?

I began singing at around the age of three. Not seriously, but my father was a full-time performing musician so he would bring me on stage and I would sing. My first real performance was in the 4th grade.

What role does music play in your life?

Music is absolutely everything to me, and it has been that way for almost a decade now. It's all I really think about, and it is my true passion.

What makes you unique?

I am a performer and singer, but I think what can make me unique is my songwriting. I have been writing songs for as long as I have been singing.

Do you have a wish list of writers you'd like to write with? If so, who?

My favorite current songwriters are Ryan Tedder, Chris Martin, Rob Thomas and John Mayer. I also find it fascinating how successful Dr. Luke has been in writing pop hits, so to work with him would also be awesome.

What are your top three all-time favorite songs and why?

"In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" by The Beatles, and "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls.

What is your strongest musical strength?

I believe my vocals are my strength as a musician, as well as my songwriting and just having a good ear for pop music.

What is your greatest musical weakness?

I think I could use a little work on my overall stage presence when I am not playing an instrument. I have grown comfortable with playing a guitar on stage, so I'd like to step out of that comfort zone for some performances on Idol if given the chance.

Who are your top three favorite and most influential artists? What is it about your favorite artists that you are drawn to?

I think the three most influential artists in my life that have kind of molded me into the musician I am today are John Mayer, Justin Timberlake, and Rob Thomas. I think first and foremost it is the songs. You can have the look, you can have the vocal chops and everything, but if you don't have the songs to back it all up I just don't think you have much of a chance to last in the business.

If you had to pattern your career after another artist, who would it be and why?

I really like the path that Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic has taken. In terms of Idol, I really like the path that Phillip Phillips has taken. I really like the songs he has released and how true to himself he has stayed.

Why do you think you should be the next "American Idol"?

I'm sure all of the people left in the competition feel they should be the next "American Idol." Everyone at this point has talent. But you have to have a voice, personality and songs that can last in the music industry. I think I can bring all those things if I am the next "American Idol." If I have the right team around me I really believe I can do something special.
