Olivia Cheng stars in Netflix's original series "Marco Polo."

Olivia Cheng is a public figure in media who actively blends her passion for human-interest stories with her wish to highlight social issues through film and television projects that feature women and visible minorities. As a former broadcast journalist, nationally published youth culture features writer, and ET Canada stringer correspondent, Cheng expanded her repertoire in media when she switched over to acting and screenwriting.

Her first major project was playing opposite Academy Award winner Robert Duvall and Academy Award-nominated Thomas Hayden Church in Walter Hill's Golden Globe-nominated and Emmy Award-winning epic miniseries "Broken Trail." Since then, she has appeared in episodes of "The Flash," "Arrow," "Supernatural," "Fairly Legal," "Flashpoint," "Fringe," "Eureka" and "Psych." She also appeared in numerous television movies, including Hallmark Channel's "Signed Sealed Delivered" and "It's Christmas, Carol!," alongside Emmanuelle Vaugier and Carrie Fisher; Lifetime's "Broken Trust" with Laura Vandervoort, "On Strike for Christmas," starring Daphne Zuniga and David Sutcliffe, and "Hunt for the I-5 Killer," starring John Corbett and Sara Canning; and LMN's "High Noon," opposite Emilie de Ravin and Ivan Sergei, among others.

Cheng soon followed that playing New York Times best-selling author Iris Chang in a docu-drama that examined the Nanking Holocaust. Cheng has been invited to speak on shows like CBC's "Newsworld" and in high schools and universities around Canada and Japan. She has also been invited to speak at International Women's Day and the Tokyo Foreign Press Club and has been honored by the Canadian Mental Health Association for her work to raise awareness about mental illness in youth.
