Pamela Ptak from "Project Runway" is one of the contestants competing on Season 7 of the Lifetime reality series. Pamela from "Project Runway 7" is a full-time fashion designer and part-time college fashion design instructor. She currently lives in Riegelsville, Pennsylvania, but is originally from Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She is 47 years old.
Pamela Ptak first realized she had designer potential when she was around five years old. She says she started drawing fashions very young, making clothes for dolls. When she was in fourth grade, she made her first full-size garment without a pattern, a jumper skirt with large ruffles. She has a BFA from Pratt. In addition, she studied couture methods at the Maison Sapho School and also studied at FIT. She won the Houston Film Festival Gold Award for a Cover Girl mascara TV ad with Christie Brinkley in '90 or '91. In the past, she has worked as an advertising art director in New York at two of the world's top 10 global ad agencies.
She says she is excellent with line and proportion and that she can drape anything. She is meticulous with finishing garments. When she's designing she likes listening to old black-and-white movies, recent Harry Potter films and educational TV. She says her favorite designer is God, because looking at God's creations in nature teaches such perfections. When pressed, she also names Charles James, Balenciaga, Junya Watanabe and Issey Miyake.
