Paul Blackthorne joins NBC's "Lipstick Jungle" as Shane, Wendy Healy's (Brooke Shields) supportive husband and the stay-at-home father of two who is trying to find his own niche in the business world, separate from his ambitious wife's career.
No stranger to television audiences, Paul Blackthorne recently starred as "Harry Dresden" in the cult favorite SCI FI Channel series "The Dresden Files." Paul Blackthorne recurred in the drama series "Big Shots" as a cosmopolitan British homewrecker. Paul Blackthorne has also guest-starred on NBC's "ER" and "Medium," and did a villainous turn as biological terrorist "Stephen Saunders" in the third season of "24." Other television credits include "Monk" and "Presidio Med."
With many independent films in his list of credits, he received critical acclaim for the role of "Captain Russell" opposite Aamir Khan in the Oscar-nominated "Lagaan," directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. Later this year, he will be seen in the Robert Zemeckis production of "A Christmas Carol."
Paul Blackthorne's first acting experience was as an 11-year-old with England's National Youth Music Theatre in the UK. Starring alongside Tom Hollander, Toby Jones and John Arney, Paul Blackthorne appeared in the first production of "The Leaving of Liverpool" at Abingdon School, which moved on to the Edinburgh Festival and then to London's West End. A few years later, Paul Blackthorne was back with the NYMT at the Bergen Festival in a production of "The Ragged Child." After numerous commercials in the mid-1990s (most notably the Virgin Atlantic "Grim Reaper" commercial), Paul Blackthorne was back on stage at the Nottingham Playhouse in a production of Tennessee Williams' "Suddenly Last Summer." Following that, Paul Blackthorne played Mr. Shakespeare in The Blank Theater Company's production of "Women Are the Weaker Sex."
Off-camera, Paul Blackthorne can usually be found holding a camera. An accomplished photographer, Paul Blackthorne has had his work exhibited at galleries on both sides of the Atlantic, always with a philanthropic element and proceeds earmarked for various causes important to him. His work is displayed and sold on his website with proceeds supporting the environmental organizations that are also highlighted on the site.
